This custom adventure explores two of Brazil’s highlights, combining nature’s wonder of the Amazon with the magic of Rio de Janeiro. In Rio, follow in the footsteps of locals and visit the city’s iconic landmarks Corcovado Mountain and Christ the Redeemer Statue, and discover through one of the world’s largest and most accessible urban rainforests. Immerse yourself in the vast Amazon and wake up each morning to the entrancing sounds of the jungle. Canoe through small river tributaries, fish for piranha, hike under lush wildlife-rich canopies, and visit local indigenous communities to see and witness a way of life that’s in harmony with nature.

SAO PAULO TO RIO DE JANEIRO

Welcome to Brazil! Upon arrival to Sao Paulo International Airport, pass through immigrations and customs, then check-in for your connecting domestic flight to Rio de Janeiro (no airport assistance provided). Flight: Sao Paulo to Rio de Janeiro After retrieving your luggage, meet your English-speaking guide in arrivals area for your private transfer to your hotel (with English-speaking guide). Later this afternoon or early evening, our local representative meets you to review and discuss your Brazil itinerary. Meeting time to be confirmed with your local guide during hotel transfer.

RIO DE JANEIRO

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning, then start your private guided city tour (approx. 6 hours). Depart the hotel at 9:00AM for a brief stop at a local street market where fresh fruits and vegetables are sold. From there, you continue on to visit Corcovado Mountain and the Christ the Redeemer Statue. The statue sits atop Corcovado Mountain, part of a mountain range covered by the Tijuca Forest. The Tijuca Forest is a secondary forest, and considered to be one of the largest urban forests in the world. Upon arrival at the base of Corcovado Mountain, board a cogwheel train for a 25-minute ride to the summit. Once you reach the top, take an elevator, escalator, or walk the 220 steps to the base of the iconic statue. From the top, admire the Christ the Redeemer Statue, with its arms open to the city below. Descend the mountain and take a brief walk through the Tijuca Forest. Return to your hotel by 3:00 PM. The afternoon is at leisure to enjoy as you wish.

RIO DE JANEIRO

This morning, sleep in a bit later or enjoy an early morning stroll along the beachside promenade. Depart the hotel around 10:30 AM to start your selected morning activity. Meet up for lunch (suggestions offered by guide) followed by a visit to the Rio Botanical Gardens, where you can see flora from around Brasil and other countries. Be sure not to miss the towering imperial palms, a highlight of the gardens. From here, visit Sugarloaf Mountain. Accessible by a 2-stage cable car, Sugarloaf Mountain has impressive views of the city and bay. Enjoy the sunset from the mountain and arrive back at the hotel around 6:30 PM.

RIO DE JANEIRO TO MANAUS AMAZON JUNGLE

Say goodbye to Rio as you transfer from your hotel to airport this morning (in van with licensed English-speaking guide). The flight to Manaus is approximately four hours. Flight: Rio de Janeiro (GIG) to Manaus Following arrival in Manaus, retrieve your luggage and meet your English-speaking guide for your private transfer to Villa Amazonia Hotel. Located in the historical center of Manaus, this charming hotel is within walking distance to the famous Teatro Amazonas, restaurants and pharmacy. Hotel Villa Amazonia features 30 exclusive apartments, all facing an indoor garden and natural stone pool. The façade, reception and restaurant maintain the historic design dating back to the golden rubber age. Rooms are spacious, modern and sophisticated in design, and include bathtub and balcony. The hotel restaurant, Fitz Carraldo Bistro, offers a contemporaneous menu, blending international classic dishes with the exotic cuisine of the Amazon.

ANAVILHANAS LODGE / AFTERNOON EXCURSION

At approximately 8:30 AM, transfer with Portuguese-speaking driver (shared) from your hotel to the Anavilhanas Lodge. The van transfer is approximately three hours. Check-in at Anavilhanas and begin your four-day program. Upon arrival to Anavilhanas, lunch will be served. All meals are included at the lodge, starting from lunch on the first day to breakfast on the final day. Drinks are not included (except for water). This afternoon, choose from a multitude of activities offered during your stay, from hiking and canoeing to local indigenous community visits. An experienced English-speaking guide accompanies guests on all included activities. Activities are offered on a regular basis (shared) with up to 14 guests per excursion.

EXPLORING THE AMAZON RAINFOREST

Spend two full days exploring the jungle from the lodge, accompanied by bilingual naturalist guides. The program includes two daily excursions (shared, small group).

MANAUS TO SAO PAULO / RETURN FLIGHT HOME

This morning, take your shared transfer, with Portuguese-speaking driver, from the lodge to Manaus International Airport for your flight to Sao Paulo. The transfer will be approximately three hours. Flight: Manaus to Sao Paulo or directly to home city (depending on location) On arrival in Sao Paulo, connect on your own with your overnight international flight back home

Quito

This morning, you are picked up for your half-day private guided tour of Quito, including a walking tour of its historical center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then, the afternoon is at your leisure to spend relaxing or exploring the city further on your own.
