Day 1 - Port of Ushuaia

Start your journey in the bustling port town of Ushuaia, Argentina. Explore the southern extent of Patagonia with a hike in the mountains or a visit to a café for some handcrafted chocolate.


Day 2 - Port of Ushuaia

Port of Ushuaia

In the late afternoon, embark on your vessel and sail down the historic Beagle Channel. As you depart, feel the anticipation of the journey ahead as you prepare to reach the world’s most southern continent.


Day 3 to 4 - Drake Passage

Drake Passage

Spend your days at sea with presentations from your Expedition Team on photography, wildlife, glaciology, and history. Take time to look for wildlife or chat with your shipmates over a drink at the bar.


Day 5 to 8 - South Shetland Islands - Antarctica Peninsula

South Shetland Islands

Reach the White Continent and experience a sense of awe and reverence. Each day, take Zodiac excursions from the ship to explore glaciated bays, channels, and landing sites. Visit research stations, hike the Antarctic landscape, and consort with chinstrap, Adélie, and gentoo penguins. Look out for Weddell, fur, crabeater, and leopard seals, as well as humpback, minke, and orca whales. Enjoy the serene silence of Antarctica and the noisy interludes of penguins squabbling over pebbles or the boom and crack of a calving glacier.

Stretching up from the heart of the world’s southernmost continent, the Antarctic Peninsula is where most travelers spend all their time on the continent and is the highlight of most Antarctica trips.


Day 9 to 10 - Drake Passage

Drake Passage

On the return journey across the Drake Passage, take in the crisp Antarctic air and watch for seabirds and whales. Enjoy presentations from your Expedition Team and celebrate the experiences shared exploring Antarctica.


Day 11 - Port of Ushuaia

Port of Ushuaia

Arrive in Ushuaia in the morning, allowing you to continue your adventure onward or catch your flights home.

Day 1 - Punta Arenas Port

Punta Arenas Port

Begin your adventure in Punta Arenas, Chile, the most populated city in southern Patagonia. You will have time to explore museums, restaurants, and shops before meeting your Quark Expeditions representative at the official starting point hotel for a welcome dinner and briefing about your embarkation day.


Day 2 - Antarctica

Antarctica

Take a charter flight from Punta Arenas to Antarctica, crossing the Drake Passage in just two hours. You will land in the South Shetland Islands, and from there, you will be transferred by Zodiac to your ship to sail to the Antarctic Peninsula. You will have the unique opportunity to see the stunning landscapes of Antarctica from your plane as it descends for landing.


Day 3 to 5 - Antarctica Peninsula - South Shetland Islands - South Shetland Islands

Antarctica Peninsula

Enjoy the daily land excursions and Zodiac cruises. You will walk on beaches dotted with penguins, take hikes to penguin rookeries, and search for whales and icebergs. Each landing is different, presenting new sights and photo opportunities. You will wake up each day ready for adventure and the chance to see apex predators like leopard seals and orcas in action.

Close to the northwestern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula, separated by the Bransfield Strait, the South Shetland Islands are a highlight of most Antarctic cruises.

Day 8 to 9 - Antarctica Peninsula
